events

I love doing events and shows. I regularly exhibit new work in unconventional show spaces by partnering with members of the community. I also host and facilitate art events at local businesses and venues looking to develop their art scene. Events can include aerosol based classes and workshops raising awareness of its role as a legitimate fine art medium.

Art Loft

This year I’ve been invited to show and curate at Art Loft of Decatur. It is an art co-op downtown and serves as studio and show space for some of the best artists in the scene. The show I curated called Spiritual Places had all the artists contribute works that referenced a place where they had a spiritual experience.

Mad Malts

I have a long standing relationship with several of the breweries here in the Rocket City. My favorite is Mad Malts! for the past year They have hosted many of my aerosol workshops and demonstrations. I have set up public spray walls at some of their events and they also hosted Spray Jam! Spray Jam is my aerosol invitational where I bring in street artists and muralists from the region to live-paint with bands, food and vendors.

River Clay Fine Arts Festival

I was on the planning committee for the inaugural River Clay Fine Arts Festival. My contribution was to bring in street artists from Birmingham and Atlanta and paint along side them at the event as a live art demonstration. In recent years I have been asked to participate as a chalk artist using aerosolized “spray chalk!”

Carnegie Visual Arts Center

Over the years I’ve had the privilege of working with the Carnegie Visual Arts Center in Decatur. They have been very supportive in my efforts to raise awareness about aerosol being a legitimate fine art medium. They’ve invited me to participate in their community events as a live artist, lead workshops and hosted a show for me and local hero Jason Sharp.

See Rocket City

The Huntsville Art League reached out to me to do a solo show on the square downtown. I had been using the phrase “See Rocket City” as a reference to all of the “See Rock City” billboards and painted barn roofs as you head north out of Huntsville towards Lookout Mountain. I have a background in tourism, and I thought it was the perfect theme for a show celebrating Huntsville’s natural beauty and dynamic community.

Adult Emporium

As a young boy, I was encouraged to read lots of fine art history books. I was dazzled by all the nudes alongside still life, landscapes and portraits. Later in life, I worked in adult industry stores for a few years determined to humanize and demystify sensual media for myself and my work. I made great friends, some of them celebrities. Before I left, my shop at the time hosted an art reception for me.

Grind Nation

For several I years I was invited to participate in Grind Nation. It was a series of group shows that brought together hip-hop and street culture artists and producers from all over the region to Huntsville.

Skate Deck Shows

I’ve been painting and showing skateboard decks for 20 years. While I enjoy riding boards of all kinds, I think skate decks are ideal for art. The shape and form speak to me and I love the idea of hanging a board on the wall…or riding a painting through the streets.
